In the world of The Privateers, Pirates of the Caribbean meets Star Wars. The pirates are led by the charismatic Aran Dravyk, a usurped prince on the run for his life. Dravyk and his ship, the Rapier, have been having a dry spell bounty-wise when they spot a nice luxury liner of enemy registry. Hopes for a big payoff are dashed when Dravyk discovers Kayla Lascar, an Allegiance Councilor and the President’s daughter, on board.       He reluctantly declares the ship out of bounds only to later learn that it was attacked by a rival pirate captain and Kayla Lascar has been kidnapped.       Dravyk finds his fortunes going from bad to worse as the Allegiance President taps him and his crew to get his daughter back. Though Dravyk senses there is more going on than he is being told, he agrees. Getting Kayla back proves to be easy. Keeping her is another matter. The disgraced Duke Vesperanzo is throwing around a lot of cash to get back his prize. Even Dravyk’s crew can’t resist. Without his crew and under threat of imprisonment, the reluctant hero must find a way to get Kayla back and prevent the President from walking into a death trap.       Somehow, being a criminal was far less complicated.
